Subway definitely makes lackluster subs. Sometimes it pays off to live in a small town. I don't even have a Subway- I have to go out of my way for one of their subs (which I won't be doing ever again, of course). I first had one of their overrated subs back in 1996 and it was horrible. Back then I was only 15 years old, so I assumed I just didn't like subs. I decided to give Subway another chance a few weeks ago (15 years later) and it was even worse than I remembered. They put too many vegetables inside of their subs, especially pickles and peppers. Then you get one layer of cheese, and two layers of meat. Oh, and the actual roll? It was horrendous. It was stale, small and inedible. Obviously the secret is that you can lose weight because you're getting a small sandwich with a ton of vegetables for a relatively cheap price. My sub shop uptown absolutely smears Subway. They make 2-foot long subs that are loaded with meat, several layers of cheese, just enough veggies to get a taste, and the best part- a fluffy, tasty roll. Subway blows in comparison.

I've been to subway and everyone I've been to is not clean. The food is alright, and sometimes it makes me sick or isn't very good to start. I'm not sure if it has always been that way. I can't go to subway anymore.

The Subway in Okahumpka, Florida specifies that you have to ASK for cheese on your sandwich otherwise you won't get it. This is for ALL their sandwiches and they did it with an attitude. While the franchises are attempting to tell everyone it is for health reasons - let's look at some of the other things on the sandwiches, like the mayo based spreads, salt, olives, pickles, oils - ugh. If the truth were really known this is a cutback based on the cost of the cheeses - and the hassle the cheese involves.

The truth about Subway- opening up the prepackaged "fresh" food has an aroma of bathtub farts, the veggies are covered in pesticides/perservatives. The avacado taste like shit/chemicals. Cheese comes in tiny ass slices not to mention low quality and tasteless. All of the breads have high frutose corn syrup listed as the second ingredient. The cookies have 210 plus calories a peice. The soup comes frozen/condensed and then microwaved. Nothing is fresh or "healthy". If you want quality food go to the grocery store buy some shit and take 2 minutes to make your own damn sandwhich.
Literally waiting in line and then waiting for the "sandwhich artist" aka underpayed disgruntled worker who doesn't give a flying fuck, to make a low grade shitty quality sandwich for 5.47 is not a good deal.
Save yourself all that time from standing in line waiting for a shitty sandwich and make one at home. Save money too, 10 dollars of sandwich supplies could feed you for a week instead of two days.
So stop being a pussy bitch drag your lazy-ass to the store and get some real food and make your damn lazy-ass self.
Nothing is worse then having a customer come in and bitch about how the tomatoes are shitty or the bread is flat- It is all prepacked fuckers if you want something of quality don't go to a stupid sandwich chain- how do you think big franchises get big bucks? they dont care about you or your health they want your money so don't expect great things going there. Just like you don't expect gormet food from McDonalds- its the same concept. Don't be neive just because we are talking sandwiches and not burgers here people.
Fuck Subway.
there I said it

The subway near me is ridiculous...
They charge a flat rate of $2.50 for a meal deal.
The half empty bags of chips are sold for almost $1.60
And for a 21oz drink you are charged almost $1.80. You could buy a two liter for that price...

The veggies that are shipped to the store are often gross. very green tomatoes, or very pale, flimsy tomatoes. Prepackaged olives, pickles, banana peppers.

The steak is the same as the roast beef, the roasted chicken is mystery meat and the chicken strips you can cut by pinching them with your fingers...

They serve precooked bacon that is just dripping with grease.

Almost all of the veggies come prepackaged and in a back as well as all of our meats.
Subway talks about how they are healthier than McDonalds but the comparison between a big mac is the 6 inch sandwich. Everyone buys a footlong because you "save money".
In all reality you are consuming more total fat and calories than if you were to eat at McDonalds.

The tuna is made using one bag of tuna and a half bag of mayonnaise. If left to sit on the line for a while the mayo will start to pool at the top of the tuna. That's just gross.

They charge 2.00 for double meat on some sandwiches that only add a few pieces.
60 cents for two pieces of cheese on a 6 inch.

Breads and cookies are all frozen along with the meats.

Subway - "Eat freshly prepackaged food out of our fridge"

Subway deceives you into thinking you are eating healthy but the bread in and of itself is pretty bad for you. A 6-inch tuna sub has 600 calories in it because of all the mayo. Subway mayo is pretty terrible for you, but people love extra on their sandwich all the time! The most meat for the best price is probably the chicken breast. Can't really skimp you on a whole chicken breast. Your sandwich, even if you got the proper amount of ham (8), would have been more than $5 because the salami would have been an extra cost (I think it's like $.60 for 6 pieces of salami for us). Whoever made your sub was probably new. Subway has such a high turnover rate because it absolutely sucks working there. Even though it was rated #1 fast food place our manager still very often leaves just 1 person there throughout the day, trying to skimp by on costs. This leaves one person when randomly a group of 8 people come in, then 2 more behind, and before you know it a line to the door with just one person to deal with it all. I work 7:30-10:30pm (close) at a subway in a college housing area ALONE and deal with many rushes and last minute prep and bread baking. If you ever get a really crabby subway worker and a sloppy sandwich -this is probably why. No fast food place should ever have just one person. It should always be fast - that's why people go there. I hate subway.

Some Subways may skimp on the amount of meat, but you still get more food per buck than McDonald's and it is healthier than getting a Whopper and fries. If you're away from home and you're hungry but don't have time/money to spend in a sit-down restaurant and want a fairly healthy meal, Subway is a good choice.
