The symbol doesn’t always mean that the feed is being managed by a service such as FeedBurner. This graphic above is being established as a standard to identify syndicated content. Not a fan of the color orange? Many more colors and the idea behind this standard located at feedicons.com.

What are feeds? What’s RSS? To start you off, RSS stands for “really simple syndication”. It’s an easy way for anyone to syndicate their content such as blog posts. Why would you want to subscribe to a feed? Well, it’s extremely convenient if you want all your content in one place. You can use a service such as Google Reader that will aggregate all the syndicated content of your choice all into one place.
