Every few months I’ll receive a couple letters from American Express publishing that claims a $1,000,000 prize in the American Express sweepstakes has not yet been awarded and I could have a chance to win if I reply.
Is it as simple as that? If you read the fine print on the back of the prize entry/membership order form you’ll see on the back in the fine print that you get two free months of membership in the SkyGuide Executive Privilege Club and then if you do nothing you’ll receive 2 more months of club membership for $89.98.
However there is a check box that lets you opt out of this but I bet American Express Publishing banks on the fact that most people do not do this. So technically you could send the prize entry form and opt out of the membership and all it’ll cost you is a stamp.
Thanks for the post. I did not notice the check box on the back. Good call. I hate all these lead generating things. I get enough junk mail and things I don’t want now. My junk snail mail is up 75% since I went into business and American Express is one of the worst.
Who was “any” winner of previous sweepstakes?
I have seached with Google and did not find any information on winners of XV, XVI or XVII.
What happened to the sweepstakes that American express has with one million dollar giveaway. I do not get the magazine, and I always opt out, but like anything else, if there is a winner it’s always the other guy who wins. But I haven’t received an entry form for a while, was wondering if it was still going on or if someone won it.
