My xbox 360 has the red rings of death again (this is the second time). However this time I won’t even bother to call Microsoft to have it fixed. I’m not even sure if it’s still under warranty but that’s not why I’m not getting the xbox repaired.
Videogames are an incredible waste of time. I’ve always realized this but never bothered to do anything about this. Add to the fact that I was really good at them didn’t help. So I’ll leave my xbox unrepaired to hopefully find more productive things to do with my time.
So the other day I stopped by a McDonald’s to pick up one of their large sweet ice teas. I noticed that the monopoly stickers were on the cup and decided to input the codes at PlayAtMCD.com. After my rolls were completed I noticed that there were offers to get free rolls (via Facebook for the first one). Apparently the rolls are universal so anyone can use them. I found 3 so far.
uonlyricher – From Facebook
I6L6V4N4T09 – Seen on the side of the paper bags.
ONLYPLYRSWN – A free code that’s displayed when you haven’t been to the website in awhile.
I found the first code by actually joining the Facebook group. The other codes I found on retailmenot.com which is normally used for discount coupons and etc.
Good luck.
I started using Google Voice when it was originally Grand Central. A couple of my friends were interested in Google Voice and asked me to send them an invite. I realized that I have 3 invites left so if you want one just leave a comment on this post with your name and e-mail (e-mails will not be displayed publicly as usual) and I’ll send out invites to 3 people.
How do I use Google Voice? I’m on my laptop a lot so and rather than have people text my cell phone, I have them text my Google Voice number. The text message does not go to my cell phone but rather gets forwarded to my e-mail inbox.
Note: Google Voice is currently only available to users in the US.
I gave away all of the available invites. I’ll post when I get any more.
Do you have a friend, family, co-worker, etc. that’s just in a bad spot in their life and you’d like to help them out anonymously so they don’t feel guilty about taking the money from you?
Giving Anonymously is a non-profit organization that allows you to do just that. You can give the funds by credit card (Visa or Mastercard) to Giving Anonymously and then they cut a check to the recipient of your choice. They don’t take any fees or anything until the amount is over $500.
Every few months I’ll receive a couple letters from American Express publishing that claims a $1,000,000 prize in the American Express sweepstakes has not yet been awarded and I could have a chance to win if I reply.
Is it as simple as that? If you read the fine print on the back of the prize entry/membership order form you’ll see on the back in the fine print that you get two free months of membership in the SkyGuide Executive Privilege Club and then if you do nothing you’ll receive 2 more months of club membership for $89.98.
However there is a check box that lets you opt out of this but I bet American Express Publishing banks on the fact that most people do not do this. So technically you could send the prize entry form and opt out of the membership and all it’ll cost you is a stamp.
For the past year I’ve been discovering how great Hulu.com is for managing my time in regards to watching TV shows I enjoy. For those of you that don’t know, Hulu is a website that offers commercial-supported streaming video of TV shoes and movies. It’s a legitimate way to stream videos on demand.
One of the best features about Hulu is that when you create an account you can subscribe to TV shows you like and they’ll get automatically added to your queue and you can watch TV shows back to back. Hulu also offers videos in 480p resolution so I hooked up an old PC to the TV in my living room. I can then stream the content directly to my TV.
Check it out. It’s great if you’re looking to cut back on cable or satellite tv services or don’t subscribe to any.
I got a notice that my domain name FindThatShow.com will expire in October. I’ve decided to list the domain on eBay to see how much it’s worth there.
I’m too lazy to promote the sale and whatnot. I know this isn’t the most efficient way to sell a domain and I probably won’t get the best price for it but I really don’t have much time these days.
Check it out here if you’re interested.
The result of my financial review was that American Express didn’t deem my income level enough to justify the credit limit so they cut it from $7,000 to $1,700. Does this make sense in that I was charging $4k/month and paying off the card in full? Not to me it doesn’t and I’m a little annoyed but I guess I just won’t be able to use the card as much.
The card in question is the Amex Starwood Preferred Guest card which does have a $45 annual fee. The fee is waived the first year and I’m still on the fence about whether to keep the card if it has a credit limit that isn’t feasible for me.
I watch the Daily Show whenever I get a chance. I queue the shows I miss on Hulu.com and just leave it on as I go to bed.
