Sellers boycotting ebay? Yeah right.

Several news outlets such as the SF Gate have been reporting on a supposed boycotting on ebay due to their price changes and other changes such as sellers being unable to leave negative feedback for buyers.

I’ll bet money this boycott is nonexistant. The mindset of an eBay seller is that he/she knows other sellers are going to be not listing their items then they’ll list MORE items to fill the void and potentially profit more. Therefore this supposed boycott is pointless and anyone that actually participates in it basically enriches other seller’s pockets.

$25 bonus Revolution Money Exchange

February 20th, 2008

This is supposedly the new competition to PayPal. There’s a story about the service in USA today. Signing up does require your social security number. The $25 bonus shows up in your account immediately. You can get $10 for each friend you personally refer via e-mail.

The $25 immediately showed up in my account and I added one of my un-used ING Direct accounts as a funding source.

So far the only funding sources available are bank accounts so don’t expect this to replace PayPal anytime soon with most people paying via credit card.

Another rate drop at FNBODirect

February 7th, 2008

So I recieved yet another e-mail from FNBODirect that my account is now earning 3.85% APY. Good thing I signed up for some CDs with them earlier this year. I have a 5.25% 9 month CD and a 4.35% 24 month CD. If I did the 24 month one a little earlier I would’ve gotten a slightly better rate, oh wells.

Preparing for taxes.

February 5th, 2008

I’ll admit I probably have more to file a slightly more complicated tax return than most kids in college. I’ve been receiving a swarm of 1099s from multiple banks and brokerages lately.

I received $188.18 in total interest from various banks (ING Direct, Emigrant Direct, FNBO Direct, etc.). I probably won’t be receiving anymore interest from Emigrant as I no longer keep any funds with them.

I received $975 from Google Adsense. I guess it’s a pretty decent amount considering I don’t focus on monetizing my blog and my entries have been far and few between (I apologize for that).

I made about 8k from my part-time job. Normally I would be receiving no refund but for some reason my parents said they are not claiming me as a dependent on their taxes anymore due to a change in their income structure so I might be able to get a refund this year.

I haven’t recieved my 1099 from Zecco yet but I have from Sharebuilder. What sucks is that they report the total gross amount but didn’t report my net gains/losses for 2007. I’ll have to go through all my transactions to figure out the amount.
