shop on Amazon.com a lot? Enrolled in Bank of America’s Keep the Change program (and still in the first 3 months where they match 100%)?

Well, I did this a bunch of times to rack up some cash in BoA’s Keep the Change program since I shop on Amazon a lot.

Basically, the minimum gift certificate purchase amount on Amazon.com is $5. If you buy a gc for $5.01 with Bank of America’s Keep the Change program you get $0.99 cents back, so the gc is essentially costing you $4.02.

You buy the gift certificates and send them to yourself and just add them to your gift card balance. I think you have about 18 months before the gc expires, which is plenty of time for me. I bought about $75 worth of gift cards a couple months ago and currently have about $25 worth of them left.

Awhile ago I saw a post on Just Another Money Blog (which never updates anymore) about buying Fandango movie tickets online for cheap. I decided to try this out and picked up 2 movie codes worth $24 total ($12 each code) on eBay for $6.50. That’s $3.25 per movie ticket. I then redeemed the codes for 2 tickets for a showing of Borat at an AMC theater in Manhattan that would’ve normally cost me $10.50/ticket.

Normal cost $10.50/ticket
Cost with buying through eBay $3.25/ticket
Savings = $7.25/ticket

Here’s my take if you’re looking to purchase fandango tickets through eBay. Depending on supply and demand, prices fluctuate. If you do a search right now on eBay, you’ll see that prices are a little higher than the $6.50 I paid for 2 movie codes. However, at $10 for 2 codes, that’s still $5/ticket, considerably cheaper than what I would pay for tickets at my local theaters.

Here’s a workaround for some of the codes that are redeemable for rated-R movies only. I wanted to see Stranger Than Fiction which is rated pg-13. So I instead purchased tickets for Babel (R). When I arrived at the theaters, the customer service counter had no problem with exchanging my tickets.

Plan ahead and snap up fandango codes when they’re plentiful in supply to get them cheaper. Just remember that they do expire so make sure you actually have time to watch a movie.

It took me about two months but I finally spent $250 on the United Mileage Plus Visa Card and I checked my United Mileage balance and sure enough, the 25,000 miles was added to my account! It took me two months because I only charge purchases that were not gas, supermarket, or pharmacy related on the card.

25,000 miles = 1 roundtrip ticket within the continental US

My girlfriend signed up for the card and offer a month after I did, however she managed to spend the $250 to qualify easily in 36 minutes. So we both have enough miles to take a trip somewhere together. Hmm… where to go…?

Homeandbeyond.com has an interesting product. They’re selling a Random Box O Stuff.

Random box of stuff??? I was intrigue too. Very intrigue.

Pricing? 1 for $9.99. 2 or more for $7.50. Free shipping.

So what do you get? According to the product page, you get three items of different value in a box. To quote :

The “Stuff” in the boxes is random. Some customers will get real lucky, while others will get what they paid for. If you are unsure of this deal, pass on it.

Now here’s where it gets interesting. Introducing the “blue box”:

“The Blue Box” If you are one of the lucky 100 customers to receive a blue box in the mail, be prepared for a really special treat. The value in the box is between $100 – $1000 worth of product – There are some really hot stuff floating in these boxes including (4) Nintendo Wii consoles, (1) PS3 Console, (12) ipod Nanos and more! If you receive the box, let the world know about it! We may request that you email us a photo of your loot :)

Okay, I mean, they’re giving you 3 products for $7.50 shipped. They’re getting free marketing out of this too, doesn’t seem that bad of a deal. If you get lucky, you’ll get a blue box. Like they said, if you’re unsure about this, just pass.

As for me, I ordered 2 to satisfy my curiosity. 6 random products for $15 shipped seems fun. Worst case scenario? 6 random xmas presents… haha.

Supposedly the code repeat02 is suppose to get you 10% off, but it just gave me $0.09 off. Give it a try though.

Here’s an e-mail I got about the Bank of America WorldPoints™ Platinum Plus™ MasterCard® Credit Card offer from Luke Z:

I would like to know more about the optional “balance transfer request” in the application for the Bank of America WorldPoints™ Platinum Plus™ MasterCard® Credit Card. This is the card with the $50 bonus and the iPod Nano. I like your game plan. You said you would initiate a balance transfer of $2,000 and get it direct deposited to a high yield savings account like Emigrant Direct. (I will use my ING account.) Do you have to make this transfer upon applying for the card, or do you do this at some later time when you have already received your card? All the application asks for is the amount to be transfered, who the check should be made out to, and the account #. Do I just put the account number for my ING savings account there? Will it work? Is it direct deposited or do I receive a hardcopy check that I must mail to ING to make the deposit?

There are 2 ways that I know of to get money out of a balance transfer:

1. Generally citi cards allow you to have a negative balance, meaning they owe you money. So let’s say I have a $0 balance on my Citi Dividend card. I do a balance transfer from BoA for $2,000 (3% fee) to my Citi card. My balance at Citi will now be -$2000 and my balance at BoA will be $2060 (3% BT fee). I simply log onto my account online at Citi and request a check for my negative balance since they owe me money.

2. Some CC companies allow a transfer of money straight to your bank account if you can provide the account number and routing number. When I got an MBNA card a couple months ago and called the number to activate, the CSR gave me this option. If not, try asking for it. If transferring money directly to your bank account isn’t an option, then you’ll have to use option #1.

Penny-auctions.net sells items through eBay for starting bids of one penny. I know everyone does that on eBay nowadays, but penny-auctions.net does do something different. Once in a while they do buy it now auctions for 1 penny plus shipping costs. They’re generating buzz by offering a Xbox 360 for a penny on Penny Auction. The xbox 360 deal is definitely working, it’s what caught my eye. They’re also giving out a Nintendo Wii according to their blog.

However, the site definitely needs a design makeover. Navigating their site isn’t easy and you aren’t really too sure what they do initially. Hopefully they’re only in their early stages and things will be improved as time goes on. Check it out.

Happy Thanksgiving folks… as for black friday. I plan on doing no shopping whatsoever. I really don’t need any clothing or new electronics. I don’t feel like dealing with insane crowds anyway. Good luck if you plan on doing so, don’t get trampled or shot.

Hmmm. Deals…? Hmm, people have been asking me where I get all that random stuff I sell on ebay so I figure I’ll start posting how I obtain the items here.

Anyways, Anonymizer Anonymous Surfing is free after 2 rebates ($18 and $10). and then…
CA AntiVirus 2007 Home Protection Pack (3 User) is free after 2 rebates.

Now math time.

$28.27 for Anonymizer
-$18 Anonymizer Rebate 1
-$10 Anonymizer Rebate 2
$40.39 for CA Anti-Virus
-$20 CA Rebate 1
-$20 CA Rebate 2
-$20 off $50 Google Checkout
= -$19.54

$19.54 profit + $??.?? if you decide to fleece your new goods on ebay or you could just use the software if you needed it.

I know tons of other people are doing this, watch for the initial flood of the software on ebay driving prices down. Generally I wait a bit before listing on ebay. I’ll bite if ebay has a special on listings though.

If 4 rebates if a toughie for you, then just do the other deal. If you’re hardcore, do both.

Get $20 off $50 for using google checkout at buy.com! This isn’t as hot as the $10 off $20 they had before. It’s still a chance to make money on certain items however. Make sure you log out before you begin the checkout process.

I found that McAfee Internet Security Suite 2007 Minibox (3 User) is going for $80 – $80 rebate so it’s essentially free after rebate. However, use google checkout and you make $20.

($80 list price) – ($80 mail in rebate) – ($20 off $50 when using google checkot) = -$20

I’m in for one, then do what I always do with these offers. Fleece them on ebay! You can expect to sell this on ebay for $20-$30.

As always, I recommend you keep track of all your rebates. I’ve never had a problem with a rebate thus far, but there have been times where I had to follow through and call them to complain.
